Hi, I bought a new plasma tv, but I am really concerned about the burn-in problems everyone is talking about. Most of the dvds come with aspect ratio of 16:9. but even in 16:9 mode the black bar top and bottom remains, it doesnt fill the whole screen. Is that gonna cause tv burn in? If I use the scaling feature of the tv and fill the screen then it will reduce the original picture quality of the dvd, I dont really like watching movies with the scaling feature on. Please let me know if those black bars gonna cause burn-in.

Maybe it will, maybe it won’t. There’s no quick and easy answer. It depends on more factors. One suggestion I have for you is to change the color of the black areas/bars to gray. That will reduce a lot the chances of burn-in.
Plasma TV burn-in is not a very big problem with the new models from the top brands (Panasonic, Pioneer, etc.). However I suggest you follow the recommended steps to prevent burn-in because you will have a peace of mind and not only you will reduce the burn-in risk but you will also increase the lifespan of your plasma TV.
