Is it ok to play video games on a plasma screen TV or will it burn into the screen?

Nick P asked:
If I play video games on a plasma screen TV will it burn into the screen even if I remember to turn the TV off as soon as I get done playing the game. I thought if I shut it off as soon as I was done I wouldn’t have any burn in. Let me know if there is any way that I can still play games and have the plasma TV too! Thanks!

Newer plasma sets have various methods to reduce the risk of burn in. If your set is more than a year old you need to be careful. A few hints:
- don’t run the set at the highest brightness and contrast modes
- don’t leave the game on the screen (paused) when not playing
- don’t always play the same game
- watch other (HD) material in between game sessions.
The article linked below has some good information about burn-in on Plasmas.
If you are still shopping and primarily going to be using the set for games you might consider a fast-response LCD instead, which may have a slightly-less perfect image (not an issue for gaming) but is immune to burn-in.
