Isn’t that the ones that look like pictures; small, compact (very nice too).
I thought they would have been sealed units, burning and condensing internally; only using a small breather giving out tiny amounts of gas, which would dissapate normally ?
Could be wrong; i look forward to hearing the other answers.
JJ.
I have a flue less wood burner type fireplace that uses no gas at all but instead only electricity. The flames appear as real as any flame except you can open the door and put your hand in there and keep it there without getting burned. It looks completely natural , heat is given off from a hidden electric heater located underneath the wood burner. This has the fake fireplace logs but the flame again looks as real as any. Could this perhaps be what was described to you? I seen your question and just wondered. One like it would solve any worries about gas or carbon dioxide. I purchased mine at true value hardware. PS. you can turn the flames on without using the heater also.
A catalytic converter along with a combustion monitoring system to insure complete combustion of flue gasses.
Initial start up will burn off some smoke, but it’s just during a short break-in period. After this, it should burn clean.
Make sure this unit is installed by authorized installer.
Also, room must have certain amount of ventillation.
Not sure about the specific ofthe burner you are considering. However any gas fired burner will produce flue gases and if there is no flue then they will enter your room. As suggested in one of the other answers, a catalitic converter makes sure all the gas is burnt and burnt completely so no carbon monoxide thats the poisonous one! only carbon dioxide and water relatively harmless. As mentioned you must have some room ventilation otherwise the carbondioxide will build up and eventually suffocate both you and the fire! Given that it is called plasma fluless… it is possible that a high voltage electric discharge is used to assist the burning(combustion) rather than a catalytic converter, effect is still the same no matter how its done. There is no way to burn gas and not have waste gases as a result. But a very clean burner is possible and the combustion products are not harmful as long as you do not allow them to build up in the room.
